Warm Springs students will participate in a school-wide service learning event to pack meals for hungry children around the world. We are joining forces with Kids Against Hunger's mission to:

Plant the seed of compassion by learning about the importance of kindness and compassion
-
Love through action by participating in the meal-packing events
-
Feed the hungry by distributing packaged meals
The meals will support our local community, Haiti school feeding program, Ukraine refugees, and more.
➤Please support this program through your generous donation. Each meal costs 25 cents, which means every $25 raised will feed 100 children. You may donate in the following ways:

Students can shop during their Library time and during their grade level recess times. During Lunch with a Library Pass from the teacher and approval from the Lunch duty supervisors.
Cough drops, sunscreen, unscented moisturizer, lip balm: A parent note is required to send non-medicated cough drops, sunscreen, unscented moisturizer, lip balm.
10/31/22: Halloween parade (Monday)
Halloween Parade: We will have a Halloween Parade this year. It will be at 1:20pm on the upper playground. A map and instruction will be posted before the parade. Parents will be allowed to be on campus to watch the parade and do not need to check in with the office but will just need to leave, once recess starts.
A Halloween Parade will start on Monday, October 31 at 1:30 p.m. on the upper blacktop. Parents/visitors are welcome to watch from the Parent Viewing area (ONLY) on the parade map, which can be found here.
Halloween Costumes: Dressing for Halloween is a fun and festive part of October that many of our students and staff are looking forward to. The following guidelines have been created for those who choose to dress up for Halloween on Monday, October 31 (not required). If you would not like your child to participate, please let your teacher know and we will have a place for them to wait, until it is recess time:

If students are going to wear a costume, they must wear it to school. Students will not be permitted to change into their costumes or apply makeup or hairspray at school. All costume preparations must be completed at home. Students must be able to wear their costume inside or outside, at recess, and during P.E.

Costumes must not interfere with learning, movement or using the restroom (no adult support will be available at school to assist with costumes)
-
Costumes must not interfere with the ability to wear a protective face covering (mask) if students choose to wear one.

Dress code-- all regular Warm Springs and District dress code policies apply: including, no “revealing” clothing, appropriate shoes must be worn, etc. On this day only, students may wear hats inside as part of their costumes.

Violence – no pretend “prop” weapons such as guns, knives, or swords, and no blood or gore

Age Appropriateness – costumes cannot promote the use of drugs, alcohol, or violence of any kind
-
Consideration of others – costumes must not make fun of others or perpetuate a stereotype of someone’s culture, gender, heritage, or religion

Students who wear costumes that do not conform to the costume guidelines will be asked to change their clothing or call home to acquire an appropriate alternative

10/18/22 RANCHO HIGUERA FIELDTRIP!! Our first in person field trip this school year!! We will need 5 parent chaperones from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm. If you are interested, please email me/send a note with your child. This is based on first come, first served basis. If you are not one of the first five to chaperone for this field trip, there will be other opportunities to chaperone for upcoming fieldtrips that are currently being organized.

PTA is hosting the Math Olympiad contests (program offers 5 per year for 4th and 5th graders only) for 22-23 school year at the school campus. Registration is open until October 15th. Contest dates, times, steps to register and additional information can be found here.

PROGRESS REPORTS: Will go home in Wolf Folders on 9/29. Not every child will receive one. Your child will ONLY receive one if they are in danger of failing a subject.
Math and Reading Diagnostic Results will be sent home today - 29th September in Wolf Folders. These will also be available on Illuminate soon. Please carefully read these reports sent home. You can also track your child's progress with our weekly classwork, quizzes and tests sent home and available online (Think Central). For example, the latest Math test results are available on Think Central. P.S. ALL STUDENTS SCORED ABOVE 75% FOR OUR FIRST MATH UNIT.1 TEST!!!:))) If your child is in danger of failing, a progress report will be sent home next week in Wolf Folders, so that your child has time to work on this before report cards are due in November. I will schedule Parent Conferences with Parents in November. We would recommend meeting then, so that I get a chance to get to assess and learn about your child until then.

10/18/22 RANCHO HIGUERA FIELDTRIP!! Our first in person field trip this school year!! We will need 5 parent chaperones from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm. If you are interested, please email me/send a note with your child. This is based on first come, first served basis. If you are not one of the first five to chaperone for this field trip, there will be other opportunities to chaperone for upcoming fieldtrips that are currently being organized.
Cough drops, sunscreen, unscented moisturizer, lip balm: A parent note is required to send non-medicated cough drops, sunscreen, unscented moisturizer, lip balm.

10/31/22: Halloween parade (Monday)
Halloween Parade: We will have a Halloween Parade this year. It will be at 1:20pm on the upper playground. A map and instruction will be posted before the parade. Parents will be allowed to be on campus to watch the parade and do not need to check in with the office but will just need to leave, once recess starts.

Congratulations Room.35 students for completing the first week of school!! Thank you to all parents for sending in school supplies and donations. Please ensure that your child has all supplies by the up coming Monday. The supplies are expected to last all year, so your child may be taking back some of the supplies to be stored home, while they wait for you to purchase their seat sack. Desks are not large enough to store all supplies.
Wolf Folders: Wolf Folders will be going home every Thursday with important information. Please check everything sent home carefully, and sign and return the folder weekly please. Items sent home today
- The WS Classroom Emergency Food Kit letter. Please purchase listed items and return in a ziplock bag with your child's name and roll number by September the 9th, the latest.
- Room.35 schedule. This is subject to change, we are still waiting to schedule our Library slot.
- Scholastic Book Club. This is optional, and our class code was sent to help earn books for our classroom.

The first day of school is Wednesday, 18th August, 2022.

My introductory letter with supply list ( also available in the 'Supply List 2021-2023' section) will be going home next week with Wolf Folders. Wolf Folders will be going home on THURSDAYS. Please check, sign and date inside of the folder and return back with your child by the following week Tuesday at the latest.
